Starting December 29, 2025, some Pacific cod that jig fishing boats won’t catch in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands will be given to smaller boats using hook-and-line or pot gear. Extra Pacific Cod Quota for Small Hook-and-Line/Pot Boats
If you operate a catcher vessel less than 60 feet (18.3 m) using hook-and-line or pot gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands, you are allocated an additional 930 metric tons (mt) of Pacific cod for 2026. The allocation to those vessels increases to 3,272 mt, effective December 29, 2025 through December 31, 2026.
Reduced A-Season Allowance for Jig Gear Vessels
If you fish Pacific cod using jig gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands, your A season allowance is reduced by 930 metric tons. The A season allowance for jig gear is set to 60 mt and the annual amount for jig gear is set to 721 mt for 2026, effective December 29, 2025 through December 31, 2026.
