The National Park Service is looking for awesome people to join the Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission. If you live near Cape Cod or know someone who cares about protecting this beautiful area, now’s the time to nominate them! Nominations are due by February 5, 2026, and members will help guide how the park grows and stays amazing through 2029.

Nominations open — apply by Feb 5, 2026

You can nominate someone to serve on the Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission; written nominations must be postmarked by February 5, 2026. The NPS is seeking nominees to represent the Town of Truro, Barnstable County, and one member appointed at the Secretary’s discretion; commission members serve 2-year terms and the Commission’s termination date is September 26, 2029.

Service is unpaid (no salary)

Members of the Commission serve without compensation. If you join the Commission, you should not expect a salary for serving as a member.

Travel expenses and per diem may be reimbursed

While away from home or your regular place of business performing approved Commission duties, members may be allowed travel expenses and per diem in lieu of subsistence under 5 U.S.C. 5703. This means you could get reimbursed for approved travel costs when performing Commission work away from home.

Secretary’s appointee must file financial disclosure

The individual appointed at the Secretary’s discretion will serve as a Special Government Employee (SGE) and must file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report before appointment. SGEs will also have annual financial disclosure and ethics training requirements to avoid real or apparent conflicts of interest.
