Required inspections and repair before 6,000 flights

After updating the ALS, you must perform the actions in Honda Mandatory Service Bulletin SB-420-53-009 (April 26, 2023), including visual inspections and ultrasonic inspections of the fuselage skin and repairs for tool damage. The AD sets the initial compliance as before accumulating 6,000 total flights or within 30 days after the AD's effective date, whichever occurs later, and prohibits alternative actions or intervals unless approved as an AMOC.

Must update maintenance ALS within 30 days

If you own or operate a Honda Model HA-420 (serial numbers 42000012 through 42000230), you must revise the Airworthiness Limitations Section (ALS) of your maintenance manual by incorporating Honda Mandatory Service Bulletin SB-420-53-009 within 30 days after the AD's effective date. The FAA estimates this revision takes 1 work-hour at $85 per airplane, affecting 218 U.S.-registered airplanes for a total estimated cost of $18,530 to U.S. operators.
