Rule

Summary

Starting May 19, 2026, the FAA is creating a new high-tech flight path called RNAV Route Q-151 and retiring the old Jet Route J-517 in the northern U.S. This change helps pilots fly safer and smoother because the old route lost its signal coverage. Airlines and pilots flying in this area will need to use the new route, but no extra costs or delays are expected.

RNAV Q-151 Replaces Jet Route J-517

Starting at 0901 UTC on May 19, 2026, the FAA revokes Jet Route J-517 and establishes RNAV Route Q-151 between WINEN, UT (WP) and EDGES, ID (Fix). Pilots and airlines operating in the northern U.S. must use the new RNAV route because J-517 lost navigational signal coverage, and the FAA states no extra costs or delays are expected.
