3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

Airport Can Propose Noise Reductions

If you live near Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF), the FAA found the airport's Noise Exposure Maps compliant on February 23, 2026. Because of that finding, the airport operator may now submit a Noise Compatibility Program to the FAA that sets out measures to reduce existing non-compatible land uses and prevent new ones; the submitted maps include a 2024 Existing Condition map and a 2029 Future Condition map.

FAA Did Not Commit To Funding

The FAA's determination (effective February 23, 2026) only finds that the Noise Exposure Maps meet procedural requirements; it does not approve the airport operator's data or plans and does not commit the FAA to approve a Noise Compatibility Program or to fund implementation of that Program. Local governments and the airport operator remain responsible for land use decisions and any detailed overlays of noise contours onto property maps.

Maps Available For Public Inspection

You can examine the full Noise Exposure Maps and supporting report by appointment at the FAA Memphis Airports District Office (2600 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Ste. 2250, Memphis, TN) or view and download them from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport website. The FAA's finding that the maps comply with 14 CFR part 150 took effect on February 23, 2026, and the materials include the 2024 Existing Condition and 2029 Future Condition maps.
