2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Change to Shooting Access in SDNM

The Bureau of Land Management intends to amend the Sonoran Desert National Monument plan to change where dispersed recreational target shooting is allowed. Currently, dispersed shooting is allowed on about 5,295 acres and prohibited on about 480,496 acres of the roughly 486,400-acre monument; the amendment would change those allocations and will review them in light of Executive Order 14313 which directs agencies to expand access for recreation.

Public Scoping and Comment Deadline

The BLM opened a 30-day public scoping period and requests comments on the scope of analysis, alternatives, and planning criteria; comments must be received by March 30, 2026. The notice also states the BLM does not intend to hold public meetings during the scoping period but may announce meetings at least 15 days in advance if it later decides to hold them.
