Project Equipment Removal Plan

Sugar River Hydro II, LLC plans to disconnect generator leads; remove transformers, other electrical equipment, hydraulic and governor fluids and reservoirs; remove project operating equipment and monitors from the dam; secure the powerhouse; and close the penstock intake while keeping the dam and its gates in place with an emergency backup generator. The licensee intends to work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Dam Bureau on a formal penstock closure plan and does not anticipate new ground disturbance while securing the powerhouse and closing the penstock.

Environmental Assessment Delayed

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission staff moved the Environmental Assessment (EA) deadline to July 10, 2026. The EA will be published with a 30-day comment period, and all comments filed during that period will be reviewed and considered in the Commission's final decision.
