The Federal Highway Administration plans to award up to $1.8 million in remaining FY 2023 funds for the Roadside Pollinator Program. FHWA may also use any additional appropriations that arrive before awards are announced; individual awards cannot exceed $150,000.

Application Requirements and Burden

Applicants must provide or link to a Pollinator-Friendly Practices Plan, show coordination with applicable State agencies, and document consultation with affected or interested Indian Tribes. FHWA estimates each application takes about 40 hours to complete, expects about 10 respondents (400 total burden hours), and the Federal share for awarded activities is 100 percent.

Who Can Apply and Eligibility Rules

Only State departments of transportation, Indian Tribes, and Federal Land Management Agencies may receive grants under this NOFO. Applicants must submit a Pollinator-Friendly Practices Plan and applications deemed "Satisfactory" by the Secretary of Transportation are eligible to receive grant funding under 23 U.S.C. 332.
