Nearly $800K Settlement for Cleanup

Of that amount, $618,060 will go to the U.S. Department of the Interior's Natural Resource Damages Assessment and Restoration Fund to reimburse assessment work and fund restoration projects, and $177,203 will be paid to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to reimburse its assessment costs.

New Public Fishing Access Built

If you fish or visit Spring Creek near the Site in Centre County, Rutgers Organics LLC will build a parking lot and a trail to improve public fishing access under Commonwealth oversight. The company will also ensure a conservation easement is recorded on property adjoining Spring Creek to help water quality restoration.

Covenant Not To Sue For Known Damages

The United States and the Commonwealth will confer covenants not to sue Rutgers Organics LLC for natural resource damages that are known or reasonably ascertainable as of the date the Consent Decree was lodged. The lodging date was March 6, 2026.
