Updated Instrument Flight Procedures

Starting March 17, 2026, the FAA is establishing, amending, suspending, or removing Standard Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPs), Takeoff Minimums, and Obstacle Departure Procedures (ODPs) for certain airports to promote safe instrument flight operations. The rule lists specific procedure amendments with compliance dates (for example, procedures effective 16 April 2026 and 14 May 2026).

Some Procedures Effective Quickly

The rule says some SIAP and Takeoff Minimums and ODP amendments may be made effective in less than 30 days and some were previously issued as Flight Data Center (FDC) NOTAMs as emergency actions. Where not emergency, the FAA provides an effective date at least 30 days after publication.

Updated Procedures Available Free Online

All SIAPs and Takeoff Minimums and ODPs are available online free of charge from the FAA National Flight Data Center (nfdc.faa.gov). Individual copies may also be obtained from the FAA Air Traffic Organization Service Area for the affected airport.

FAA Says Minimal Economic Impact On Small Entities

The FAA determined these amendments involve routine technical regulations and stated they are not a 'significant regulatory action' and will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities under the Regulatory Flexibility Act.
