Mandatory CHIPS Participant Reporting

If you or your organization receive CHIPS Workforce Funds, submitting participant data is mandatory to be eligible for funding. The Department estimates 35,000 respondents will each spend about 2 minutes per response, for a total of 1,155 burden hours and an estimated total annual cost to the public of $54,654.60.

Participant Personal Data Required

Individuals participating in CHIPS-funded workforce programs must input personal data into a secure online system, including full name, full address, full date of birth, race and ethnicity, sex, and educational attainment. The notice states this information will be collected to enable oversight and program evaluation.

Real-Time Program Oversight Enabled

The collected participant data will be aggregated to give CHIPS for America and each CHIPS Awardee real-time insights into workforce activities to monitor implementation and evaluate whether CHIPS-funded programs reduce staffing shortages.
