Summary

The EPA just gave a thumbs-up to Ohio’s new rule that limits pollution from RFD Beaufort’s life raft plant in Wadsworth. Starting April 22, 2026, the plant must keep volatile organic compound emissions under 5.9 pounds per gallon for their special glue process. This helps keep the air cleaner without costing the company extra money right now.

Wadsworth Plant VOC Limit

Starting April 22, 2026, RFD Beaufort, Inc.'s life raft plant at 1420 Wolf Creek Trail in Wadsworth, Ohio must meet an alternate emissions limit of 5.9 pounds of volatile organic compounds per gallon (lbs. VOC/gallon) for its nylon reinforced polyurethane adhesive process. That limit is incorporated into the Ohio State Implementation Plan (SIP) and the facility's March 25, 2025 operating permit, and is federally enforceable under the Clean Air Act as of the rule's effective date.

No New Federal Burden for Small Businesses

The EPA certified that this approval does not impose requirements beyond those imposed by State law and that the rule "does not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities." The agency also stated the Paperwork Reduction Act does not apply because the action does not create an information collection burden.
