Clean Up the Code Act of 2018 This bill repeals specified sections of the federal criminal code, including provisions that prohibit the following: interstate transport of alligator grass, water chestnut plants, or water hyacinth plants; fraudulent use of the 4-H club emblem (i.e., the green four-leaf clover with stem); unauthorized use of the Smokey Bear character or name; and unauthorized use of the Woodsy Owl character, name, or slogan.

115-hr-7059 — Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act of 2018

Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act of 2018 This bill amends the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 to modify provisions relating to the enforcement of immigration laws. Specifically, the bill prohibits any individual (e.g., an employer) from restricting or interfering with the enforcement of the immigration laws by federal officials. It also denies states or localities (i.e., sanctuary jurisdictions) that fail to cooperate in the enforcement of the immigration laws eligibility for federal funds and law enforcement grants under the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968. The bill amends detainer provisions to authorize the Department of Homeland Security to issue detainers for the arrest of an illegal alien if there is probable cause to believe that the alien is inadmissible or deportable. It also provides qualified immunity to governmental and certain nongovernmental entities that detain an alien, except in cases of mistreatment, and allows a private right of action to relatives of victims of crime committed by an alien released from custody by a state or local governmental entity that failed to honor a detainer. The bill also revises provisions requiring detention of aliens during the pendency of removal proceedings to require indefinite detention of aliens who have committed certain serious crimes; enhances penalties for the criminal offense of reentry after removal; establishes new and specific grounds of inadmissibility and deportability for aliens who are members of designated criminal gangs (consisting of five or more persons); and provides funding for border barriers, technology and other resources at the southern border to prevent illegal entry.

115-hr-6845 — Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018

Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018 This bill amends the federal criminal code to modify procedures for determining the amount of mandatory restitution in child pornography cases. Additionally, the bill amends the Victims of Crime Act of 1984: to direct courts to impose additional assessments on persons convicted of child pornography offenses; and to establish a Child Pornography Victims Reserve, within the Crime Victims Fund, where the additional assessments must be deposited.

115-hr-6786 — To protect the interests of each resident of intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in class action lawsuits by federally funded entities involving such residents and in Department of Justice actions that could result in an agreement to move such a resident from that resident's facility.

This bill establishes certain protections for residents of an intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities in class action lawsuits, or other actions, involving such residents.

This bill makes technical and conforming changes to the U.S. Code that are related to the enactment of title 41 (Public Contracts) into positive law.

115-hr-6758 — SUCCESS Act

Study of Underrepresented Classes Chasing Engineering and Science Success Act of 2018 or the SUCCESS Act This bill directs the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to study and report to Congress on the number of patents applied for and obtained: (1) by women and minorities, and (2) by small businesses owned by women and minorities. The USPTO must provide legislative recommendations to increase the number of women and minorities who participate in entrepreneurship activities and apply for patents. Additionally, the bill amends the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act to extend for eight years the authority of the USPTO to set and adjust patent fees.
