  • Museum operations and oversight: Requires annual progress reports and formal accounting of federal funds to the Secretary and to Congress.

Funding and free entry at law enforcement museum

This bill would authorize $6 million each year for seven years for grants to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The money would support the National Law Enforcement Museum’s outreach, public education, and officer safety and wellness programs. Active and retired officers and families of fallen officers would get free admission. The museum would offer free public hours at least once a week. If yearly funding falls short, the Interior Secretary could transfer money from the National Park Service to reach the authorized level. The Memorial Fund would file a yearly progress and spending report. The Secretary would send it to Congress and post it on the Interior Department website. Funds could also continue qualifying activities the museum was already doing at enactment.
