HR7724119th CongressWALLET

No Waivers for Fraud Act

Sponsored By: Representative Wilson (SC)

Introduced

Summary

Ends federal waivers that let states escape penalties under the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act. The bill would remove language in Section 658I(c) of the Act (42 U.S.C. 9858lg(c)) that authorized waiving sanctions, so federal penalties for state noncompliance could not be waived and enforcement would follow the statute's sanctions without waiver discretion.

No sanction waivers for child care

If enacted, this bill would remove the authority to waive sanctions in the federal child care grant program. States and state agencies would no longer be able to get waivers of sanctions under the Child Care and Development Block Grant. This would make enforcement stricter but could also improve program compliance. The change would take effect upon enactment.
