Alaska boards allow discussion but limit voting

Alaska’s Board of Fisheries and Board of Game members must disclose possible ethics conflicts publicly and in writing. Written disclosure goes to the designated supervisor and attorney general. Members may still discuss and participate when their disclosed interest involves their own or immediate family’s fish- or game-related business or organization. But they cannot vote if the supervisor or a board majority finds that further involvement violates state ethics rules. The law took effect immediately.
