Beginning October 1, 2025, Alabama changes how it divides certain vehicle fines, without changing the fine amounts. For convictions for driving without a current license plate and proper decal, the fine remains at least $25. Half goes to the arresting officer’s employer; half follows the usual vehicle license and registration fee rules. When local officers issue special-access or disability-parking tickets, their agency’s share rises from 50% to 100%, through the municipal or county general fund. These changes end October 1, 2028.
