Higher lodging tax allowed in Dale County

Beginning June 1, 2025, the Dale County Commission can levy a 4% tax on short-term lodging, up from 2%. Guests pay the higher tax only when the commission levies it. Taxable charges include rooms and personal property or services furnished in the room. Recreational vehicles, campgrounds, and rentals or services taxed under Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 40 are excluded. Collection follows state lodging-tax rules, with the same exemptions unless this law says otherwise. Net proceeds go into a separate county fund, solely for specific economic or tourism development projects or incentive programs. The county commission decides how to spend that money within those limits.
