Beginning June 1, 2025, St. Clair County can approve extra payments for former sheriffs or revenue commissioners serving in supernumerary offices. These cost-of-living increases or lump-sum payments must match those for county retirees under the State Employees’ Retirement System. The county commission must approve both groups’ payments for the same fiscal year. Payments must follow the same terms and conditions as the county retirees’ payments. Money comes from the county general fund; the law sets no dollar amount.
