Higher cotton assessment cap for Alabama growers

Beginning October 1, 2025, Alabama raises the cotton sales assessment cap from $1.00 to $1.30 per bale. The certified commission sets the amount each year, but cannot exceed $1.30. The assessment requires approval by a majority of eligible cotton producers voting in a referendum. Only producers who grew cotton in the crop year immediately before the referendum can vote. The commission must count, tally, and publicly announce the results within 30 days after the vote.
