Beginning October 1, 2025, Colbert County sets pistol permit fees based on age and permit length. Applicants age 60 or older pay $5 for one year or $25 for five years. Applicants younger than 60 pay $15 for one year or $75 for five years. The sheriff must deposit fees in a county bank into the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Pistol Permits Fund. From each fee, $1 must regularly go to the county general fund; the rest is reserved for law enforcement only. The sheriff or an authorized agent can draw money from the pistol permits fund.
