Beginning October 1, 2025, the Clarke County sheriff can charge reasonable fees for fingerprinting, reports, requested records, photo ID cards, funeral duties, and court-ordered ankle monitors. The law sets no dollar amounts. Law enforcement agencies and officers pay no fee for services requested for law enforcement purposes. The district attorney and grand juries are exempt for law enforcement, investigative, or prosecution work. The sheriff must send collections periodically to the county commission. Ankle-monitor fees go into the Sheriff Fund for county law enforcement. Fee proceeds cannot replace other county or sheriff’s office income.
Beginning October 1, 2025, Clarke County courts charge an extra reasonable fee for each document requiring personal delivery by the sheriff. The fee also applies to attempted delivery and adds to existing court charges and costs. The law sets no dollar amount. A judge can waive the fee for substantial hardship. The requester must sign a verified statement, obtain the judge’s approval, and file it with the court clerk. The district attorney and grand juries are exempt. Collecting officials must send fees to the county commission, which splits them equally between the Circuit Clerk’s Fund and the Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s share supports law enforcement, and proceeds cannot replace other income.
