The Clarke County sheriff gets a $32,500 yearly expense allowance starting the first day of the month after enactment. The county general fund pays it in equal monthly installments. The allowance adds to other pay and benefits and can count as pay for retirement purposes. At the sheriff's next term, annual salary rises by $32,500 and this allowance ends—not two separate increases. The law's pay rules replace other laws providing an expense allowance, salary, or other compensation for the sheriff.
