Clarke County commissioners get $8,000 pay increase

The law takes effect immediately and applies only to Clarke County commissioners. An $8,000 yearly expense allowance starts the first day of the month after enactment. The county general fund pays it in equal monthly installments. The allowance adds to existing pay and benefits and can count toward retirement. At each commissioner's next term, an $8,000 yearly salary increase replaces the allowance—not an additional $8,000 increase. The law makes its compensation framework replace other commissioner compensation laws.
