Alabama creates court cost study commission

The law creates a temporary Alabama commission to study court costs and recommend legislation making them more uniform and clear statewide. It must report by the fifth legislative day of the 2026 Regular Session, then dissolves. Legislative members receive pay, daily allowances, and travel expenses for meeting days. Other members serve without pay but may receive necessary meeting expenses under their appointing authorities’ policies. The law itself does not change court costs households pay.
