Expense reimbursements for Arkansas lawmakers

For July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, Arkansas’s Constitutional Officers Fund provides $368,000 for House reimbursements and $200,000 for Senate reimbursements. These funds can only reimburse members for interim expenses authorized by law. The House Chief of Staff or a designee handles House payments. The Secretary of the Senate handles Senate payments.

Funding for judges’ pay and expenses

For July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, the law provides $830,000 from Arkansas’s Constitutional Officers Fund for judges. This includes $80,000 for district judges’ travel, $350,000 for special or recalled circuit judges, and $400,000 for trial judges’ expenses. The Auditor of State handles payments and checks travel claims for accuracy and compliance with travel rules. District judges must submit travel claims within 60 days after the travel or expense ends. All spending under this law must follow its stated purposes, reflected in budget manuals, agency requests, and executive and legislative recommendations.

Travel and daily payments for legislator training

Members of the preceding General Assembly and newly elected House and Senate members can attend the biennial Institute of Legislative Procedure. Attendees receive the daily payment rate set by law for General Assembly members attending legislative sessions. They also receive round-trip mileage from their residence and must attend and file a claim. This rule applies from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
