Funding for city and county animal shelters

For July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, the law sets aside $25,000 for city shelters and $25,000 for county shelters. The Arkansas Treasurer administers this money from the Animal Rescue and Shelter Trust Fund. Only registered, government-owned animal rescue shelters qualify. The money can pay for staff, grants, construction, upkeep, and shelter operations. Spending must serve the approved shelter purposes and follow state purchasing, accounting, budget, revenue, salary, and other financial rules.
