Funding and staff for Arkansas early childhood

From July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, Arkansas’s Office of Early Childhood has about $188.668 million authorized for federal program expenses. These federal funds are designated by the state’s Chief Fiscal Officer. The law also authorizes about $14.636 million from the Child Care and Early Childhood Education Fund Account for operations. This includes $2.5 million for grants and aid and $969,539 for regular salaries. The office can have up to 138 regular employees and 13 temporary or part-time workers, whose pay cannot exceed state pay schedules. Spending must follow state purchasing, budgeting, and other fiscal laws and match the purposes reflected in budget documents and testimony. This funding does not create direct household payments or new household eligibility rules.

Arkansas funds child care grants and loans

For July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, the law authorizes $9 million for child care grants and program expenses. That money comes from the Child Care Grant Fund Account. It also authorizes $200,000 from the Child Care Fund for facility grants allowed by existing law. Another $36,786 supports loan guarantees and grants, using a Treasury cash fund selected by the state’s Chief Fiscal Officer. These appropriations do not set household payments, recipient eligibility rules, individual grant amounts, or loan terms.
