Arkansas prisons get wireless contraband detection funding

The law authorizes $1 million for Arkansas's Division of Correction from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The money comes from a cash fund in the State Treasury, as determined by the state's Chief Fiscal Officer. It funds buying, installing, and running technology and related services to detect, identify, track, and curb illegal wireless-device activity in prisons. Spending cannot exceed the appropriation or available funds and must follow state financial and purchasing rules. The law also directs spending to follow the purposes stated in the budget process. It does not create a direct household payment or benefit.
