Continued funding for Arkansas disability centers

Beginning July 1, 2026, Arkansas renews permission to spend unused federal funding approved in 2025 for developmental disability centers. The Department of Human Services gets up to $5.382921 million for Booneville Human Development Center’s residential housing plan. Another $7.227176 million supports continued master-plan work at all Arkansas Human Development Centers. The money covers demolition, construction, replacement, renovation, upgrades, and facility additions—not direct payments to households. The state’s Chief Fiscal Officer designates the federal funds. Contracts and obligations cannot exceed money actually available in the State Treasury. Agencies can supplement project funding with grants, donations, federal funds, and other uncommitted cash, but cannot use maintenance and general operations appropriations. Spending must follow state purchasing, budgeting, and fiscal-control laws unless another law provides an exception. Funds must serve the stated purposes and match the supporting official budget records.
