Arkansas renews parks and historic preservation funding

Beginning July 1, 2026, Arkansas renews up to $20 million in funding for its State Parks and Tourism Divisions. This carries forward the balance of an earlier appropriation from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Grant and Trust Fund. The money supports buying, managing, caring for, or preserving state-owned lands, historic sites, buildings, structures, and objects. Grants, donations, federal funds, and uncommitted cash funds can supplement it, but agency maintenance and general operating funds cannot. Contracts and project commitments cannot exceed funds actually available. Spending must follow state purchasing, budget, accounting, and other fiscal laws, plus state finance department rules, unless law provides otherwise. The money must serve the purposes documented in budget requests, recommendations, and official legislative records.
