Colorado keeps wildlife habitat stamps going

The law continues Colorado’s wildlife habitat stamp program indefinitely, removing its scheduled July 1, 2027, end date. It also removes the stamp committee’s scheduled sunset review and repeal. Hunting and fishing license applicants still need the stamp; this law does not change its cost. The default effective date is 12:01 a.m. on the day after the 90th day following the legislature’s final adjournment. A referendum petition against the law or part of it requires voter approval at the November 2026 general election. In that case, the challenged law takes effect only upon approval and the governor’s official declaration of the vote.
