New Medicaid payments for intravenous nutrition

Colorado must create pharmacy fees for preparing and dispensing intravenous nutrition for Medicaid members, after any needed federal approval. The law targets January 1, 2026, for these fees, which aim to encourage more pharmacies to participate. Beginning in 2026, the fees cannot exceed 30% of pharmacies’ administrative costs for preparing and dispensing this nutrition. For budget year 2025–26, the law provides $54,832 in state funds and anticipates another $54,832 in federal funds. Both amounts are subject to conditions in the annual budget law. By November 1, 2026, and each November 1 afterward, the department must report to lawmakers using existing funding. Reports must cover pharmacy numbers, locations, new participants, adult and child needs, network adequacy, and regulatory or payment changes.
