No-cost prenatal visits for eligible patients

Beginning January 1, 2027, eligible Colorado health plans must cover up to three prenatal office visits without patient cost sharing. This means no copays, deductibles, or coinsurance for those visits. Plans must include maternity coverage and be issued or renewed on or after that date. Standardized health plans offered under Colorado law section 10-16-1305 are excluded. A referendum petition filed within 90 days after final legislative adjournment delays the challenged provisions unless voters approve them in November 2026. After voter approval, those provisions take effect January 1, 2027, or upon the governor’s official declaration, whichever is later. In that case, coverage applies to policies issued or renewed on or after the applicable effective date.
