More endorsement paths for Colorado teachers

The state education board must set minimum coursework standards for teacher endorsements. Licensed Colorado teachers can use strong grades in standards-aligned, department-approved coursework to qualify for certain additional endorsements. Covered areas include secondary, early childhood, early childhood special education, elementary education, and special education generalist endorsements. Licensed teachers seeking additional endorsements can also show their skills through the law’s multiple-measures process. That option is available only while any of the 1,000 applicant spots remain open.

Tuition cap for off-campus teacher training

Colleges offering off-campus instruction must meet a tuition cap to participate in the Teacher Recruitment Education and Preparation program. This applies to courses in the guaranteed transfer pathway matrix or a statewide degree transfer agreement. Tuition cannot exceed the rate set by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education. Off-campus courses in this program remain covered by Colorado’s concurrent enrollment law, unlike other off-campus courses.
