Community health worker payments get restructured

Colorado ends existing Medicaid reimbursement for community health workers and creates a replacement payment system. The state health department must pay workers who meet state training and credential requirements, subject to funding and needed federal approval. On July 1, 2025, the law requires a $1.403512 million transfer from the Controlled Maintenance Trust Fund to the General Fund. It also identifies $1.403511 million from the Excess General Fund Reserve for the General Fund, intended for worker payments. These funding transfers do not guarantee payment amounts or a payment start date.
