Private warning letters and three-letter review for nurses

The Delaware Board of Nursing can issue a confidential, non-disciplinary letter of concern after an investigation. It does this when it finds no violation, but a nurse’s act or omission still raises concern and practice could improve. If a nurse receives three letters of concern, the Board can hold a hearing on professional competency. At that hearing, the letters can lose confidentiality and be used as evidence.
