Current Delaware Department of Finance employees and people with conditional job offers must undergo state and federal criminal background checks. The Secretary can also require checks for contractors and third parties who need or may need access to Department systems, facilities, or data. Anyone required to get a check must submit fingerprints and other needed information to the State Bureau of Identification. Current employees and contractors must submit this information within 30 days after receiving the Department’s written request. The Bureau sends the Department full state and federal criminal histories, or statements that no records exist. It also sends later state criminal-history information and any later information available through Rap Back, if that system is available. As allowed by law, the Department can review and use these records to judge job qualifications or continued access to its systems, facilities, or data.
