Background checks for Delaware auditor workers

Delaware’s Auditor of Accounts requires criminal background checks for all current employees and people with conditional job offers. Current and prospective contractors are covered when they need, or may need, access to state systems, facilities, or data designated by the Auditor or designee for background checks. Those covered must provide fingerprints and other required information for Delaware and FBI checks. Current employees and current contractors must submit this information within 30 days of a written request. The State Bureau of Identification sends the results to the Auditor or designee. For current employees and contractors, it also sends later state criminal records and Rap Back updates when that system is available. The Auditor or designee can use these records to decide employment qualifications or continued access, as allowed by law. The Office pays all background-check costs.
