Delaware Education Department can set rules

The Delaware Department of Education can write rules to run the Play to Learn program. The law does not set a deadline or require what the rules must say.

Play-based learning and training for early grades

The law creates the Delaware Play to Learn program. It encourages public schools to use play-based learning from prekindergarten through second grade. Early childhood teachers are urged to build child-directed, hands-on lessons across subjects. Districts may offer ongoing training in play-based learning and use state materials. The law does not require districts to offer training and does not set funding.
