The law caps Kent County’s county tax rate at $0.50 per $100 of assessed value. That equals 0.5% of assessed value. County officials cannot set a higher county rate. Your bill still depends on your assessment and other local taxes.
The law lets counties set different property tax rates for different property classes. Everyone in the same class pays the same rate. The old one-rate-for-all rule is removed. Tax bills and warrants can show the class rate used. These rules apply to rates adopted before, on, or after the effective date.
