Beginning October 1, 2025, the law provides a fixed $7,000 funeral payment instead of paying reasonable expenses up to $7,000. It covers eligible members of Delaware volunteer fire companies, their ladies auxiliaries, and volunteer ambulance and rescue companies. The law adds a requirement of at least 10 years of active service in Delaware. Service across one or more of these groups counts toward the total. Otherwise eligible state employees remain eligible when entitled to burial benefits under Title 11, sections 8331, 8395, or 8846, or Title 29, sections 5316 or 5546.
