Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Child care help with limits for families

Effective immediately, the law puts Delaware's Purchase of Care child care assistance program into state law. Parents can apply when they need child care to get or keep a job, or train for work. Job seekers can apply for no more than 90 consecutive days over one year. Delaware's health and social services department must set rules governing eligibility and assistance amounts, alongside existing state law. Family copays must reflect household size, income, and full-day or half-day care; the law sets no specific payment amounts.

Earlier summer care approval for eligible children

For every child eligible for Purchase of Care, the state must approve a summer provider after January 1 when enrollment requires approval. Advance approval can be for enrollment only. The child must still meet the program's eligibility requirements when attending. Summer care approval covers no more than 10 hours per day during the approved period. It must be added to all existing school-year provider approvals, not replace them.
