More safety workers qualify for peer support

Beginning July 1, 2025, Florida expands who counts as a first responder under its peer-support rules. The definition includes 911 public safety telecommunicators, correctional officers, and correctional probation officers. It also includes support personnel defined in Florida law who investigate crime scenes or collect or process evidence. The law adds no direct payment or new funding.
