Jacob Rodgers gets payment with claim limits

Effective upon enactment, the law requires Gainesville to pay Jacob Rodgers $10.8 million for his injuries. The city must use funds not already committed. With the $200,000 already paid, total compensation is $11 million. These payments are the sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the incident. Attorney fees for this claim cannot exceed 25% of the act's $10.8 million award, or $2.7 million.
