J.N. gets $400,000 with claim limits

Hillsborough County must pay $400,000 to Stephany Grullon, J.N.'s parent and guardian, for a trust benefiting only J.N. The money comes from county funds not already committed elsewhere. Together with $200,000 already paid, this completes the $600,000 settlement for injuries from the June 7, 2019, bicycle crash. These payments are the only compensation for all present and future claims arising from those events and injuries. Attorney fees and costs, lobbying fees, and similar claim expenses cannot exceed 25% of this act's award, or $100,000.
