New employer payments for Florida public pensions

Beginning July 1, 2025, Florida Retirement System employers use revised contribution rates for both retirement plans. Employers pay a regular retirement contribution plus an added contribution for past funding shortfalls, both based on gross pay. The paired rates below show the regular contribution first and the added contribution second: Regular Class, 7.10% plus 4.87%; Special Risk, 20.10% plus 13.03%; Special Risk Administrative Support, 10.88% plus 26.54%. For legislators, the governor, lieutenant governor, Cabinet officers, state attorneys, and public defenders, rates are 10.04% plus 50.56%. For justices and judges, rates are 15.62% plus 28.46%; county elected officers, 11.79% plus 40.72%. For Senior Management Service, rates are 8.73% plus 22.45%; Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP), 9.37% plus 10.65%. These are employer payments; the law does not change employee contribution requirements or retirement benefits. The law also declares that fair, adequate benefits and sound retirement funding serve an important state interest.
