New limits on restaurant booking platforms

Starting July 1, 2025, a third-party platform without an agreement cannot arrange on-site reservations at Florida restaurants. The rule covers services owned by someone other than the restaurant owner. A customer’s designee may still make a free, personal reservation that cannot be transferred, but must share the customer’s contact information, let the restaurant confirm the reservation, and honor opt-out requests for future reservations. Florida’s Division of Hotels and Restaurants can impose penalties of up to $1,000 per violation. Violations accrue daily for each day and each reservation at each restaurant, and the division can adopt rules to carry out the law.
