New license review rules for drivers

The director must mail a review decision within 14 days after notice for an alcohol-related case, or 28 days for a drug-related case. Those deadlines replace the earlier 8-day and 22-day deadlines, and drivers can email information for review. If the director misses the deadline, revocation starts 30 days after notice for alcohol cases or 44 days for drug cases, unless the director cancels it. A timely hearing request moves the start date later, as set by the director. For drug cases using testing equipment, the file sent to the director must include a sworn statement about the maintainer’s training, certification, and ability.
