The Kentucky healthcare workforce investment fund now treats speech-language pathology and audiology licenses as eligible. If you hold or are seeking a Kentucky license in these fields, you can apply for fund help such as programs or grants. This change is now in effect.
The law defines a healthcare program as training or schooling required for an eligible credential. High school health vocational programs count. Students in these required programs can seek support from the Kentucky healthcare workforce investment fund.
The law defines who can give and partner with the Kentucky healthcare workforce investment fund. A grantor is anyone who donates money to the fund. A healthcare partner can be a licensed provider or facility, a qualified mental health professional, or a Kentucky healthcare group. Donors can also give dedicated funds and state how their gifts are used.
A county is historically underserved if its healthcare workforce needs are above the state average and its jobless rate is higher than the state. It must top the state unemployment rate for five straight years, or be at least double the state rate in the most recent year. These counties can get priority from the Kentucky healthcare workforce investment fund.
